1980 Phillies Pictures

I went home for the holidays in 2006 and was looking through some old photo albums, and found a whole bunch of great old Phillies pictures. I scanned in some of them. Here's a bunch from the 1980 postseason.

First game of the 1980 NLCS, Phillies vs. Astros, October 7th 1980, at Veterans Stadium.

Phillies lineup. Check out Bobby Boone and Larry Bowa all the way on the left, and the hair of Garry Maddox and Bake McBride.

Astros starting lineup.

Steve Carlton started the first game of the NLCS.

Ah, the good old scoreboard at Veterans Stadium, showing Mike Schmidt in the lineup.

It's the last game of the 1980 World Series, October 21, 1980, at Veterans Stadium.

Phillies line up on the first base line for the National Anthem.

Royals line up on the third base line for opening game announcements.

Tug McGraw replaces Steve Carlton on the mound in the 8th.

George Brett at bat in the 8th inning.

Mike Schmidt, making his infamous "Neighbor, let's get 'em" comment to Tug McGraw at the start of the 9th inning.

Willie Wilson is at bat.

And the Phillies have become the World Series champions. (Unfortunately, I think the excitement was too great for them to get a picture of the strikeout or the Tugger jumping up and down.)

Final score of that final game, on the Vet scoreboards.

This is me, mid-summer 1980. I'm three years old, left-handed, and I want to be Steve Carlton when I grow up.

We're at a neighborhood Phillies event, and the Phanatic won't give me back to my mom. Honestly, that's just fine with me.
